Neglect of children and young persons

228 Neglect of children and young persons

A person, whether or not the parent of the child or young person, who, without reasonable excuse, neglects to provide adequate and proper food, nursing, clothing, medical aid or lodging for a child or young person in his or her care, is guilty of an offence.

: Maximum penalty--200 penalty units, or imprisonment for 2 years, or both.
Note : An offence against this section committed by a corporation is an executive liability offence attracting executive liability for a director or other person involved in the management of the corporation--see section 258.
