(1) A person who comes into possession of a firearm, but is not authorised by or under this Act to possess the firearm, must (except as provided by section 82A) immediately surrender the firearm to a police officer.: Maximum penalty--50 penalty units or imprisonment for 12 months, or both.
(2) A person does not contravene any other provision of this Act just by surrendering a firearm in accordance with this section.
