GOVERNMENT SECTOR AUDIT ACT 1983 - SECT 30
Deputy Auditor-General
30 Deputy Auditor-General
(1) A Deputy Auditor-General may be appointed by the Governor to act in the
office of the Auditor-General at any time while the Auditor-General is absent
from office through illness or any other cause or while there is a vacancy in
the office of the Auditor-General.
(2) An appointment under subsection (1)
may be made whether or not, at the time at which the appointment is made, the
Auditor-General is absent from office as referred to in that subsection or
there is a vacancy in the office of Auditor-General as so referred to.
(3)
Section 29 applies to and in respect of the Deputy Auditor-General in the same
way as it applies to and in respect of the Auditor-General.
(4) The Deputy
Auditor-General, while acting as referred to in subsection (1), shall be
deemed to be the Auditor-General and shall have and may exercise the functions
of the Auditor-General.
(5) No person shall be concerned to inquire whether
or not any occasion has arisen requiring or authorising a person to act in the
office of the Auditor-General, and all things done or omitted to be done by
that person while so acting shall be as valid and effectual and shall have the
same consequences as if they had been done or omitted to be done by the
Auditor-General.
