LAW ENFORCEMENT CONDUCT COMMISSION ACT 2016 - SECT 52
Preliminary investigation
(1) An investigation power the Commission decides to exercise under section 51
may be in the nature of a preliminary investigation.
(2) A
preliminary investigation can be conducted, for example, for the purpose of--
(a) assisting the Commission to discover or identify conduct that might be
made the subject of a more complete investigation, or
(b) assisting the
Commission to decide whether to make particular conduct the subject of a more
complete investigation, or
(c) assisting the Commission in making a decision
under section 61 with respect to the holding of an examination with respect to
conduct that is (or could be) serious misconduct.
