(a) to ensure that an appropriate range of options is available for intervention in the business and professional affairs of law practices for the purpose of protecting the interests of--(i) the general public; and(ii) clients; and(iii) law practices and others, including the owners and employees of law practices, so far as their interests are not inconsistent with those of the general public and clients; and
(b) to ensure that there is an accountable and transparent process for the appointment of interveners and for the conduct of interventions.
Note: This Chapter--(a) applies to all law practices, regardless of whether or not they are incorporated under the Corporations Act; and(b) is intended to apply so that it, rather than the Corporations Act or the Bankruptcy Act, applies in respect of the winding up of trust property and in respect of the carrying on of a law practice by external intervention.
