57 Performance audits

(1) The Auditor-General may conduct a performance audit under Division 2A of Part 3 of the Government Sector Audit Act 1983 of--

(a) the activities of the NSW Commissioner, the Bar Council and the Law Society Council for which costs and expenses may be paid from the Public Purpose Fund, and

(b) the present and future liability of the Fund for the payment of those costs and expenses.

(2) The performance audit may be conducted whenever the Auditor-General considers it appropriate.

(3) For the purposes of the performance audit, Division 2A of Part 3 of the Government Sector Audit Act 1983 applies as if the Attorney General were the accountable authority for the relevant auditable entity within the meaning of that Act.
