MENTAL HEALTH ACT 2007 - SECT 134A
Request by patient or other person at other health facility to see official visitor
134A Request by patient or other person at other health facility to see
official visitor
(1) A person referred to in section 18 (2) who is detained in a health
facility other than a mental health facility, or a designated carer or the
principal care provider of the person, may notify the medical superintendent
of the health facility that the person, carer or care provider desires to see
an official visitor.
(2) The medical superintendent must inform the Principal
official visitor of the person's or carer's or care provider's desire to see
an official visitor not later than 2 days after receiving the notification.
(3) The Principal official visitor is to arrange for an official visitor to
visit the health facility as soon as reasonably practicable.
(4) The
regulations may make provision for or with respect to the following-- (a) the
functions of an official visitor who visits a health facility under this
section,
(b) the obligations of the medical superintendent of a health
facility in respect of a visit under this section.
