PUBLIC LOTTERIES ACT 1996 - SECT 51
Clarification of certain rules for winning prizes in instant lotteries
51 Clarification of certain rules for winning prizes in instant lotteries
(1) In an instant lottery, a statement that a prize is won by matching 3
numbers or by matching 3 identical numbers (or a statement to the same effect)
means, and is taken always to have meant, that a prize is won if the same
number appears 3 times. For example--
| 7 | 1 | | 7 | 1 | |
| 3 | 7 | wins a prize | 3 | 7 | does not win a prize |
| 4 | 7 | | 3 | 1 | |
(2) In an instant lottery, a caption to a number (for example, the word "one"
beneath the number "1") forms part of the number and does not constitute a
separate number for the purposes of counting the number of numbers.
(3) This
section applies to a statement on a ticket in the instant lottery or to a
statement publicly advertised or used in connection with the instant lottery.
