Compensation for cost of interpreter services
64A Compensation for cost of interpreter services
(1) If it is reasonably necessary for a worker to obtain the assistance of an
interpreter in connection with a claim for compensation under this Act, the
worker's employer is liable to pay, in addition to any other compensation
under this Act, the reasonable costs of any such assistance.
(2) The
Authority may by order published in the Gazette-- (a) establish guidelines for
determining the amount payable under this section, and
(b) fix the maximum
amount payable under this section.
(3) Payments under this section are to be
made as the costs are incurred, but only if properly verified.
(4) The
Authority may pay any such costs (whether or not liability to pay those costs
has been determined) and recover the amount from any employer liable to pay
them.
(5) This section applies only to the costs of assistance provided in
respect of a claim made after the commencement of this section.
