CRIMINAL PROCEDURE REGULATION 2017 - REG 44
Functions of circle sentencing groups
(1) The functions of a circle sentencing group are as follows-- (a) to
determine an appropriate plan for the treatment or rehabilitation of a
referred offender,
(b) to recommend an appropriate sentence for the offender,
(c) to provide support or other assistance to the offender in completing the
program or an intervention plan arising out of the program,
(d) any other
functions that may be imposed or conferred on the group by this Division or
the guidelines.
(2) Without limiting subclause (1) (a), a
circle sentencing group may require a referred offender to comply with a plan
that includes requirements relating to any one or more of the following-- (a)
the conduct and good behaviour of the offender,
(b) attendance for
counselling or other treatment,
(c) the supervision of the offender for the
duration of the plan,
(d) residence, association with other persons or
attendance at specified locations,
(e) involvement in activities, courses,
training or employment for the purpose of promoting the reintegration of the
offender into the community,
(f) any other matters that the group considers
would promote the treatment or rehabilitation of the offender.
