Parking in parking bays

211 Parking in parking bays

(1) This rule applies to a driver who parks on a length of road, or in an area, that has parking bays (whether or not a park in bays only sign applies to the length of road or area).
Note :
"Parking bay" is defined in the Dictionary.

(2) The driver must position the driver's vehicle completely within a single parking bay, unless the vehicle is too wide or long to fit completely within the bay.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.
Note 1 :
"Driver's vehicle" is defined in the Dictionary.
Note 2 :
"Vehicle" includes a combination--see rule 15 (d).
(3) If the vehicle is too wide or long to fit completely within a single parking bay, the driver must park the driver's vehicle within the minimum number of parking bays needed to park the vehicle.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.
(3-1) This rule does not apply to a driver parking in a pay parking area.
Note 1 :
"Pay parking area" is defined in the Dictionary.
Note 2 : This subrule is an additional NSW subrule. There is no corresponding subrule in rule 211 of the Australian Road Rules . Rules 207-1 to 207-9 make provision for parking in pay parking areas.
