(1) A driver, rider or passenger must not, while in or on a vehicle, use a device to make a sound like the sound of a siren.
(2) This rule does not apply if:(a) the vehicle is a police vehicle or an emergency vehicle, or(b) the vehicle is approved by the Authority to use the device for a purpose approved by the Authority, or(c) the vehicle is being used by the Authority, or a police officer, for law enforcement purposes.
Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units.

Note 2 : This rule is an additional NSW road rule. There is no corresponding rule in the Australian Road Rules .
