(1) If the court appoints 2 referees and a decision to be made in the course of proceedings under the reference is not agreed, the decision that is binding is--(a) if a judicial officer is a referee, the decision of the judicial officer, or(b) in any other case, the decision of the referee appointed by the court to be senior referee.
(2) If the court appoints 3 or more referees, any decision to be made in the course of proceedings under the reference may be made by a majority of the referees and, failing a majority, the decision that is binding is--(a) if a judicial officer is a referee, the decision of the judicial officer, or(b) in any other case, the decision of the referee appointed by the court to be senior referee.
