Aims of Plan

1.2 Aims of Plan

(1) This Plan aims to make local environmental planning provisions for land in South Werrington.
(2) The particular aims of this Plan are as follows:
(a) to ensure development incorporates the principles of sustainable development through the delivery of balanced social, economic and environmental outcomes,
(b) to encourage development to be designed in a way which assists in the mitigation of, and the adaptation to, the likely impacts of climate change,
(c) to protect items of environmental value, particularly mature vegetation, significant watercourses, significant buildings and gardens and scenic landscapes and views,
(d) to promote a high standard of urban design that responds appropriately to the existing and desired future character of areas,
(e) to promote development that creates a range of business, employment, education and training opportunities, suitable to the needs and skills of the residents and the workforce,
(f) to protect the environmental heritage of the area including places of historic, aesthetic, architectural, natural, cultural and Aboriginal significance,
(g) to protect views and vistas to and from main roads, heritage items and other vantage points.
