SYDNEY REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL PLAN NO 21--WARRINGAH URBAN RELEASE AREAS - REG 2

2 Aims, objectives etc

This plan aims:

(a) to rezone certain land for residential purposes in order to increase the supply of land for the Sydney housing market,

(b) to enable a proportion of the land to be developed in a medium density form with public rental housing in recognition of the range of needs for housing within the community and the capacity to pay for housing,

(c) to take explicit account of the physical nature of the environment to ensure that development is in harmony with the natural environment, and in particular, with the catchment of Narrabeen Lagoon,

(d) to ensure that Aboriginal relics are protected in accordance with the requirements of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 , and

(e) to allow the consent authority to prepare a development control plan to provide more detailed control over development of the land.
