POLICE (SPECIAL INVESTIGATIVE AND OTHER POWERS) ACT 2015 (NO 4 OF 2015) - SECT 34

Inspection of records by Ombudsman

    (1)     The Ombudsman must, from time to time and at least once every 12 months, inspect the records of each law enforcement agency to determine the extent of compliance with this Part by the agency and law enforcement officers of the agency.

    (2)     For each inspection, the Ombudsman:

    (a)     after notifying the chief officer of the agency, may enter at any reasonable time premises occupied by the agency; and

    (b)     is entitled to have full and free access at all reasonable times to all records of the agency that are relevant to the inspection; and

    (c)     may require a member of staff of the agency to provide to the Ombudsman any information:

        (i)     that the Ombudsman considers necessary; and

        (ii)     that is in the member's possession, or to which the member has access; and

        (iii)     that is relevant to the inspection.

    (3)     The chief officer of the agency must ensure that members of staff of the agency give the Ombudsman any assistance the Ombudsman reasonably requires to enable the Ombudsman to perform functions under this section.
