APPROPRIATION (PARLIAMENT) BILL
             1994


                    EXPLANATORY NOTES

   Following a review of Parliamentary Committees by the Electoral and
Administrative Review Commission and the Parliamentary Committee for
Electoral and Administrative Review, it was recommended that the budget
for the Parliament be presented to the Legislative Assembly in the form of a
Parliamentary Appropriation Bill. On the 30th October, 1993 the Premier
announced a six point Parliamentary reform package which included the
provision of a separarate Appropriation Bill for the Parliament.
  The Treasurer will table the Appropriation (Parliament) Bill with the
annual Appropriation Bill in the Legislative Assembly each financial year.
  Clause 1 provides for the short title of the Act.
  Clause 2 authorises the Treasurer to issue from the Consolidated Fund
and apply towards the supply granted for services for the Parliament, the
sum of $35,914,000.00 for the financial year commencing 1 July 1994.
  Clause 3 authorises the Treasurer to issue from the Consolidated Fund
and apply towards the supply granted for services for the Parliament, the
sum of $5,986,000.00 for the financial year commencing 1 July 1995.
