Explanatory Notes

Short title
The short title of the Bill is the Appropriation (Parliament) Bill 2013.

Policy objectives and the reasons for them
This Bill provides for:

      Appropriation for 2013-14 to fund the cost of providing the services, equity adjustment
      and administered items of the Legislative Assembly and parliamentary service in that
      year; and
      Supply for 2014-15 to allow the normal operations of the Legislative Assembly and
      parliamentary service to continue until the Appropriation (Parliament) Bill for 2014-15
      receives assent.

Consultation has been undertaken with the Speaker in determining the appropriation
requirements of the Legislative Assembly and the parliamentary service.

Appropriation (Parliament) Bill 2013 Notes on provisions Clause 1 provides for the short title of the Act. Clause 2 provides that the amount of $75 421 000 is appropriated for the 2013-14 financial year for the Legislative Assembly and parliamentary service for application to its departmental services, administered items and equity adjustment as set out in Schedule 1. Clause 2(3) provides that the amount of $75 421 000 includes the amount already authorised by the Appropriation (Parliament) Act 2012, section 3, to be paid for the financial year starting 1 July 2013. Clause 3 provides that the amount of $37 711 000 is authorised to be paid for the 2014-15 financial year for the Legislative Assembly and parliamentary service for the application to its departmental services, administered items and equity adjustment until the Appropriation (Parliament) Bill for 2014-15 receives assent. Clause 4 repeals the Appropriation (Parliament) Act 2010 (Act No. 27) and the Appropriation (Parliament) Act 2011 (Act No. 22). Schedule 1 to the Bill details the total amount appropriated for the Legislative Assembly and parliamentary service and the amounts for application to its departmental services, administered items and equity adjustment in 2013-14.
