ADOPTION ACT 2009 - SECT 118
Consultation with appropriate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
118 Consultation with appropriate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person
(1) This section applies if the person is being assessed for suitability to be
an adoptive parent of a child who is, or children who include, an Aboriginal
or Torres Strait Islander child.
(2) The chief executive must consult with an
appropriate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person about— (a)
Aboriginal tradition or Island custom relating to the child; and
(b) the
person’s suitability.
