Roles and responsibilities for carrying out cultural heritage study
53 Roles and responsibilities for carrying out cultural heritage study
(1) Any person, including the Minister, may be the sponsor for a cultural
heritage study.
(2) However— (a) Aboriginal parties are responsible for
assessing the level of significance of areas and objects included in the study
area that are or appear to be significant Aboriginal areas and
significant Aboriginal objects; and
(b) if the findings of a cultural
heritage study are to be included in the register, the study must be carried
out, and its findings put in written form, in the way this part requires.
