Auditors—functions
36 Auditors—functions
(1) An auditor has the following functions under this division— (a) to
inspect and audit, in each audit period, the trust accounts of each agent by
whom the auditor is engaged;
(b) to make an audit report for the agent for
the audit period;
(c) if the agent is an agent for the whole of the audit
period—to make 2 unannounced examinations of the agent’s trust accounts
during the audit period;
(d) if the agent is an agent for less than the whole
audit period, but more than 6 months of the period—to make 1 unannounced
examination of the agent’s trust accounts during the audit period.
(2) An
auditor must not make an unannounced examination of an agent’s trust
accounts within 2 months after the last day of the audit period or another
unannounced examination.
