Investigation by adjudicator
269 Investigation by adjudicator
(1) The adjudicator must investigate the application to decide whether it
would be appropriate to make an order on the application.
(2) Also, if an
agreement is referred to an adjudicator under section 252I (5) , the
adjudicator may investigate the agreement to decide whether it would be
appropriate to make a consent order under section 276 (5) .
(3) When
investigating the application or agreement, the adjudicator— (a) must
observe natural justice; and
(b) must act as quickly, and with as little
formality and technicality, as is consistent with a fair and proper
consideration of the application or agreement; and
(c) is not bound by the
rules of evidence.
