Legal representation of child’s parents
109 Legal representation of child’s parents
(1) If, in a proceeding on an application for an order for a child, a parent
of the child appears in the Childrens Court but is not represented by a
lawyer, the court may continue with the proceeding only if it is satisfied the
parent has had reasonable opportunity to obtain legal representation.
(2)
Subsection (1) does not prevent the court exercising powers under chapter 2 ,
part 5 , division 1 .
