CHILD PROTECTION ACT 1999 - SECT 37
Purpose of part
37 Purpose of part
(1) This part provides for the making of court assessment orders.
(2) A court
assessment order is made to authorise actions necessary as part of an
investigation to assess whether a child is a child in need of protection if—
(a) the consent of a parent of the child to the actions has not been able to
be obtained or it is not practicable to take steps to obtain the parent’s
consent; and
(b) more than 3 business days is necessary to complete the
investigation and assessment. Note— Under part 2 , a temporary assessment
order may be obtained for not more than 3 business days.
