EVIDENCE ACT 1977 - SECT 65

65 Maps, charts etc.
(1) Where in a proceeding there is a question as to the territorial limits or
situation of an area or place, or the distance between 2 places, a court may
admit in evidence— (a) a published book, map, chart or document that appears
to the court to be a reliable source of information in relation to the
question; or
(b) a certificate purporting to be given by the chief executive
(surveys), or the holder of another office that, in the court’s opinion,
qualifies the person to express an opinion about the question.
(2) In any
proceeding a map, chart or plan purporting to be issued or published by any
department of the Government of the State or of the Commonwealth or by an
officer thereof in discharge of the officer’s functions shall, upon its
production, be sufficient evidence of the matters stated or delineated thereon
until the contrary is proved.
