GUARDIANSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION ACT 2000 - SECT 80S

80S Purpose of ch 5B
(1) The purpose of this chapter is to enable the tribunal to— (a) give
approval for a relevant service provider to contain or seclude an adult, and
to review the approval; and
(b) if the tribunal has given, or proposes to
give, an approval mentioned in paragraph (a) in relation to an adult—give
approval for a relevant service provider to use restrictive practices other
than containment or seclusion in relation to the adult, and to review the
approval; and
(c) appoint a guardian for a restrictive practice matter for an
adult, and to review the appointment.
(2) Also, this chapter— (a) enables
the public guardian to approve the use of particular restrictive practices on
a short-term basis; and
(b) provides criteria for guardians for a
restrictive practice matter and informal decision-makers for deciding whether
to consent to the use of particular restrictive practices.
