Acceptance of human rights complaint by commissioner
76 Acceptance of human rights complaint by commissioner
(1) If the commissioner decides to accept a human rights complaint for
resolution by the commission, the commissioner must give the complainant and
respondent notice of its acceptance.
(2) The notice must state— (a) the
role of the commission in trying to resolve the complaint; and
(b) the powers
the commissioner may exercise in trying to resolve the complaint.
(3) The
notice given to the respondent must also state— (a) the substance of the
complaint; and
(b) that the respondent will be given an opportunity to make
submissions in writing in response to the complaint; and
(c) that the
respondent must advise the commissioner of the respondent’s address for
service; and
(d) that the commissioner may seek information or documents from
the respondent in relation to the complaint.
