(1) This section applies if—(a) an employee, while employed with the employer, starts an apprenticeship or traineeship; or(b) the employer—(i) continues to employ an apprentice or trainee (the
"employee" ) on the completion of the apprenticeship or traineeship; or(ii) re-employs the employee within 3 months after completion of the employee’s apprenticeship or traineeship.
(2) The period of the apprenticeship or traineeship does not break the employee’s continuity of service.
