LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTORAL ACT 2011 - SECT 11
Presiding officers
11 Presiding officers
(1) A presiding officer at a polling booth is responsible for the proper
conduct of a poll at the polling booth and for carrying out the other duties
for an election that are required by the returning officer.
(2) The returning
officer— (a) may be presiding officer at a polling booth; and
(b) must
appoint a person as presiding officer at each polling booth other than the
booth at which the returning officer is the presiding officer.
(3) If a
person can not act as presiding officer at a polling booth, the returning
officer, or someone else with the returning officer’s approval, may appoint
another person as presiding officer at the booth while the person can not act.
(4) An appointment under subsection (2) or (3) must be in the approved form.
