Conditions imposed by law society
203 Conditions imposed by law society
(1) The law society may impose conditions on a person’s registration as a
foreign lawyer— (a) when it is granted or renewed; or
(b) at any time
during its currency.
(2) A condition imposed under this section— (a) may be
about any matter in relation to which a condition could be imposed on a local
practising certificate or any other matter agreed to by the foreign lawyer;
and
(b) must be reasonable and relevant.
(3) The law society must not impose
a condition under subsection (2) (a) that is more onerous than a condition
that it would impose on a local practising certificate of a local legal
practitioner in the same or similar circumstances.
(4) The law society may
vary or revoke a condition imposed by it under this section.
