Additional conditions on practice of interstate-registered foreign lawyers
208 Additional conditions on practice of interstate-registered foreign lawyers
(1) An interstate-registered foreign lawyer’s right to practise foreign law
in this jurisdiction is subject to any condition imposed under this Act.
(2)
Without limiting subsection (1) , the law society may impose any condition on
the interstate-registered foreign lawyer’s practice of foreign law in this
jurisdiction that it may impose under this Act in relation to a locally
registered foreign lawyer.
(3) Conditions imposed under a regulation, the
legal profession rules or subsection (2) must not be more onerous than
conditions applying to locally registered foreign lawyers in the same or
similar circumstances.
(4) If the law society imposes a condition under
subsection (1) — (a) the law society must give the interstate-registered
foreign lawyer an information notice about the law society’s decision; and
(b) the person may apply, as provided under the QCAT Act , to the tribunal for
a review of the decision.
