LEGAL PROFESSION ACT 2007 - SECT 627
Termination of office
627 Termination of office
(1) The Governor in Council may terminate the appointment of a committee
member if the member— (a) becomes incapable of performing the member’s
functions because of physical or mental incapacity; or
(b) is guilty of
misconduct of a kind that could warrant dismissal from the public service if
the member were an officer of the public service.
(2) The Governor in Council
must end the appointment of a committee member if the member— (a) is
convicted of a serious offence or an offence against a relevant law or a
corresponding law; or
(b) is an insolvent under administration; or
(c) if
the person was appointed because the person was a solicitor—the person stops
being a solicitor; or
(d) if the person was appointed because the person was
a barrister—the person stops being a barrister; or
(e) if the person was
appointed as a lay member—the person becomes an Australian lawyer or
otherwise legally qualified.
