MAJOR SPORTS FACILITIES ACT 2001 - SECT 8
Authority’s powers
(1) The Authority has all the powers of an individual, and may, for example—
(a) enter into contracts; and
(b) acquire, hold, dispose of, and deal with
property; and
(c) appoint agents and attorneys; and
(d) engage consultants;
and
(e) charge, and fix terms for goods, services and information supplied by
it; and
(f) do anything else necessary or convenient to be done for, or in
connection with, its functions.
(2) Without limiting subsection (1) , the
Authority has the powers given to it under this or another Act.
(3) However,
the power under subsection (1) (b) to acquire a sports, recreational or
entertainment facility for its declaration as a major sports facility may be
exercised only with the prior written approval of the Minister.
(3A) Also,
the power under subsection (1) (b) to acquire freehold land to undertake the
development of a sports, recreational or entertainment facility for its
declaration as a major sports facility may be exercised only with the prior
written approval of the Minister.
(4) The Authority may exercise its powers
inside or outside Queensland.
(5) Without limiting subsection (4) , the
Authority may exercise its powers outside Australia.
