Recognisance instead of imposing any other sentence
32 Recognisance instead of imposing any other sentence
(1) Subject to section 98 , if an offender is convicted, the court may,
instead of imposing another sentence, release the offender if the offender
enters into a recognisance, with or without sureties, in such amount as the
court considers appropriate, on the conditions that— (a) the offender must
appear before the court to be sentenced at a future sittings of the court or
if called on within a period stated by the court; and
(b) the offender must
in the meantime keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
(2) In making an
order under subsection (1) , the court may impose any additional conditions
that it considers appropriate.
