Details of medical examination or treatment must be explained
133 Details of medical examination or treatment must be explained
(1) This section applies to a doctor undertaking a medical examination or
treatment of a person under a detention order.
(2) The doctor must, if
practicable— (a) give an explanation to the person of the examination or
treatment to be undertaken in a way likely to be readily understood by the
person; and
(b) allow the person an opportunity to submit to the examination
or treatment voluntarily.
(3) If the person does not submit to the
examination or treatment voluntarily, the doctor may undertake the examination
or treatment with the help, and using the force, that is reasonable in the
circumstances.
