Power to use force against individual at watch-house
652 Power to use force against individual at watch-house
(1) It is lawful
for a watch-house officer exercising or attempting to exercise a power under
this Act against a person at a watch-house to use reasonably necessary force
to exercise the power.
(2) Also, it is lawful for a watch-house officer to
use reasonably necessary force to prevent a person in custody at a watch-house
from escaping from lawful custody.
(3) The force a watch-house officer may
use under this section does not include force likely to cause grievous bodily
harm to a person or the person’s death.
