Minister’s role for the public service and public service offices
36 Minister’s role for the public service and public service offices
(1) The Minister has the following functions— (a) to promote the overall
effectiveness and efficiency of the public service;
(b) to assess the
appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency of public service management,
and in particular, departments or parts of departments;
(c) to advise
departmental Ministers about steps that should be taken to improve the public
service’s effectiveness and efficiency;
(d) to authorise reviews of
activities or functions of public service offices;
(e) to refer to the
commission for review matters relating to the effectiveness or efficiency of
public service offices;
(f) to monitor the performance of the commission’s
functions.
(2) Subsection (1) does not limit or otherwise affect the
Minister’s other functions or require the Minister to carry out any
particular action.
