The objects of this Act are—
(a) to regulate the building industry—(i) to ensure the maintenance of proper standards in the industry; and(ii) to achieve a reasonable balance between the interests of building contractors and consumers; and
(b) to provide remedies for defective building work; and
(c) to provide support, education and advice for those who undertake building work and consumers; and
(d) to regulate domestic building contracts to achieve a reasonable balance between the interests of building contractors and building owners; and
(e) to regulate building products to ensure—(i) the safety of consumers and the public generally; and(ii) persons involved in the production, supply or installation of building products are held responsible for the safety of the products and their use; and
(f) to provide for the proper, efficient and effective management of the commission in the performance of its functions.
