QUEENSLAND BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION COMMISSION ACT 1991 - SECT 70
Residential construction work carried out under a contract with a consumer
70 Residential construction work carried out under a contract with a consumer
(1) This section applies if— (a) the residential construction work to be
carried out under a contract with a consumer is to be varied; and
(b) the
commission is satisfied that the value of the residential construction work
will change because of the variation.
(2) If the value of the residential
construction work will increase by $5,000 or more because of the variation,
the licensed contractor carrying out the work must pay an additional insurance
premium on behalf of the consumer for the work to the commission before any
work relating to the variation starts. Penalty— Maximum penalty—100
penalty units.
(3) If the value of the residential construction work will
decrease because of the variation, the commission may refund part of the
insurance premium paid for the work to the consumer.
