RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES AND ROOMING ACCOMMODATION ACT 2008 - SECT 84B
Tenant must be advised about associated costs and benefits
84B Tenant must be advised about associated costs and benefits
(1) A lessor or lessor’s agent must comply with subsection (2) and (3)
before— (a) a tenant enters into a residential tenancy agreement; or
(b) a
tenant enters into a rent agreement under section 84 ; or
(c) a notice is
given to the tenant under section 84A .
(2) The lessor or lessor’s agent
must give the tenant a written notice advising the tenant of the costs that
are associated with the ways to pay rent offered to the tenant if— (a) the
tenant would not reasonably be aware of the costs; and
(b) the lessor or
lessor’s agent knows or could reasonably be expected to find out about the
costs.
Penalty— Maximum penalty—40 penalty units.
