WEAPONS ACT 1990 - SECT 49A
Authority given by licence
49A Authority given by licence
(1) A licence authorises a licensee to possess and use a weapon or category of
weapon endorsed on the licence for any lawful purpose.
(2) However, the
authority to possess or use a weapon, or a category of weapon, under a licence
is subject to a regulation, condition or participation condition, whether
imposed by an authorised officer or prescribed under a regulation.
(3) If a
condition is prescribed under a regulation for a category of weapon— (a) the
condition applies to all weapons of the category, whether licensed before or
after the day the condition has effect; and
(b) the licence is taken to have
been amended to include the condition.
(4) If use of a firearm is authorised
under another Act, a licensee does not contravene this Act only because the
licensee uses the firearm in the way authorised under the other Act.
