YOUTH JUSTICE ACT 1992 - SECT 64
Childrens Court magistrate
64 Childrens Court magistrate
(1) All proceedings under the Justices Act 1886 for the hearing and
determination of charges against children for offences, including committal
proceedings, must be heard and determined before a Childrens Court magistrate.
(2) A Childrens Court magistrate has jurisdiction to hear and determine the
proceedings.
(3) A Magistrates Court and justices conducting committal
proceedings do not have that jurisdiction.
