Duty of distribution entity to notify of serious electrical incident or dangerous electrical event
266 Duty of distribution entity to notify of serious electrical incident or
dangerous electrical event
(1) This section applies if— (a) a distribution entity is advised about the
happening of a serious electrical incident or dangerous electrical event; and
(b) the distribution entity is the distribution entity for the incident or
event.
(2) The distribution entity must— (a) give the regulator written
notice in the approved form of the incident or event; and
(b) ensure the
written notice is received by the regulator within 24 hours after the
distribution entity first becomes aware of the happening of the incident or
event.
Penalty— Maximum penalty—40 penalty units.
(3) However, if
the incident or event that happens is a serious electrical incident in which a
person has been killed, the distribution entity must also advise the regulator
of the incident, immediately after the distribution entity becomes aware of
the happening of the incident, by phone, fax or another suitable form of
immediate and effective communication. Penalty— Maximum penalty—40
penalty units.
(4) The distribution entity is not required to give written
notice or immediate advice to the regulator of the incident or event if the
distribution entity knows that the incident or event has already been reported
to the regulator.
