(1) The holder of a rehabilitation permit, or a relevant person for the holder, must release an authorised animal kept under the permit—(a) if a day for releasing the animal is stated in the permit—on the stated day; or(b) otherwise—when the animal is able to live again in the animal’s prescribed natural habitat.
(2) Subsection (1) does not apply if—(a) the animal dies or escapes; or(b) the chief executive has given the holder a notice stating that the animal should not be returned to the wild.Note—See also the Nature Conservation (Koala) Conservation Plan 2017 , section 16A for an additional condition in relation to releasing a koala under a rehabilitation permit.
