CHILD SAFE ORGANISATIONS ACT 2024 - SECT 89
Power to require personal details
89 Power to require personal details
(1) This section applies if an authorised officer— (a) finds a person
committing an offence against this Act; or
(b) finds a person in
circumstances that lead the authorised officer to reasonably suspect the
person has just committed an offence against this Act; or
(c) has information
that leads the authorised officer to reasonably suspect a person has just
committed an offence against this Act.
(2) The authorised officer may require
the person to state the person’s name and residential address.
(3) The
authorised officer may also require the person to give evidence of the
correctness of the stated name or address if, in the circumstances, it would
be reasonable to expect the person to— (a) be in possession of evidence of
the correctness of the stated name or address; or
(b) otherwise be able to
give the evidence.
(4) When making a requirement under this section, the
authorised officer must give the person an offence warning for the
requirement.
