Dealing with human rights complaint—generally
77 Dealing with human rights complaint—generally
(1) If the commissioner decides to accept a human rights complaint for
resolution by the commission, the commissioner may take the reasonable action
the commissioner considers appropriate to try to resolve the complaint.
(2)
Without limiting subsection (1) , the commissioner may— (a) ask the
respondent to make submissions to the commission in writing in response to the
complaint; or
(b) give the complainant a copy of the respondent’s written
submissions; or
(c) ask or direct the complainant or respondent to give the
commissioner information relevant to the complaint, including under
section 78 ; or
(d) make enquiries of, and discuss the complaint with, the
complainant and the respondent; or
(e) cause the complaint to be conciliated
under subdivision 4 .
