The Parliament of South Australia enacts as follows:

Part 1—Preliminary

1—Short title

This Act may be cited as the Constitution (Election Date) Amendment Act 2006.

2—Amendment provisions

In this Act, a provision under a heading referring to the amendment of a specified Act amends the Act so specified.


Part 2—Amendment of Constitution Act 1934

3—Amendment of section 28—Term of House of Assembly

(1) Section 28(1)—delete "March" and substitute:

November

(2) Section 28(3)(a)—delete paragraph (a)


Schedule 1—Transitional provision

1—Term of House of Assembly of fifty-first Parliament

In the case of the House of Assembly of the fifty-first Parliament, section 28(1) of the Constitution Act 1934 as amended by this Act will be taken to refer to the third Saturday in November in the year 2009.
