The Parliament of South Australia enacts as
follows:
This Act may be cited as the Parliamentary Committees (Membership of
Committees) Amendment Act 2010.
In this Act, a provision under a heading referring to the amendment of a
specified Act amends the Act so specified.
Part 2—Amendment
of Parliamentary Committees
Act 1991
3—Amendment of
section 14—Membership of Committee
Section 14(1) and (2)—delete subsections (1) and (2) and
substitute:
(1) The Committee is to consist of—
(a) until the commencement of the first session of the
53rd Parliament—8 members;
(b) thereafter—6 members.
(2) Half of the members of the Committee must be members of the House of
Assembly appointed by the House of Assembly and half must be members of the
Legislative Council appointed by the Legislative Council.
4—Amendment of
section 15K—Membership of Committee
Section 15K(1) and (2)—delete subsections (1) and (2) and
substitute:
(1) The Committee is to consist of—
(a) until the commencement of the first session of the
53rd Parliament—9 members;
(b) thereafter—7 members.
(2) The membership of the Committee must be determined as
follows:
(a) until the commencement of the first session of the
53rd Parliament—6 members of the Committee must be members of the
House of Assembly appointed by the House of Assembly and 3 must be members of
the Legislative Council appointed by the Legislative Council;
(b) thereafter—4 members of the Committee must be members of the
House of Assembly appointed by the House of Assembly and 3 must be members of
the Legislative Council appointed by the Legislative Council.
5—Amendment of
section 24—Procedure at meetings
Section 24(2)—after paragraph (b) insert:
and
(c) if the Committee consists of 8 or 9
members—5 members.
