The Parliament of South Australia enacts as
follows:
This Act may be cited as the Rail Safety National Law (South Australia)
(Rail Safety Work) Amendment Act 2020.
This Act comes into operation on a day to be fixed by
proclamation.
In this Act, a provision in Part 2 amends the
Rail
Safety National Law
set out in the Schedule to the
Rail
Safety National Law (South Australia) Act 2012
.

4—Amendment
of section 4—Interpretation
Section 4(1), definition of rail
infrastructure—after "operate" insert:
safely
5—Amendment
of section 8—Meaning of rail safety work
(1) Section 8(1)(d)—before "maintaining" insert:
constructing,
(2) Section 8(1)(d)(ii)—after "infrastructure"
insert:
, including checking that the rail infrastructure is working properly
before being used
(3) Section 8(1)(f)—delete paragraph (f) and
substitute:
(f) work on or about rail infrastructure or associated works or equipment
that places, or may place, the person performing the work at risk of exposure to
moving rolling stock;
