(1) The presiding
officer at a polling booth may appoint a suitable person to act in the
position during a temporary absence of the presiding officer from the polling
booth.
(2) A person appointed
under subsection (1) has, while acting in the position of the presiding
officer, all the powers, functions and responsibilities of the presiding
officer.
